Effect of Widowhood on Economic and Social Wellbeing of Widows in Kisumu East Sub County, Kisumu County, Kenya

The death of a husband is one the most traumatic experiences that accompanied by additional social and economic responsibilities. Worldwide, rate widowhood on rise it comes with multiple roles. In Kenya, more specifically, Kisumu County, there an alarming increase in number widows who have to contend burden due spousal loss. current study sought assess effect wellbeing East Sub Kenya. used purposive sampling select 50 County. research design was quantitative qualitative nature. Data gathered using questionnaires focus group discussions. researcher had 5 discussions extract depth information widows’ wellbeing. findings report widowhood, heightens challenges thus affecting widows. also show hardships impact their lives. recommends government community should empower economically help them initiate sustainable income generating projects, business acquisition new skills which may allow seek better medical care for themselves families. Additionally, government, nurture inculcate positive guidelines inclusivity Moreover, be sensitized healthy ways socially integrating society establishing productive financial welfare groups.
